If something is old, and there are better things, then why not write about those newer, better things, instead of the older, worse things?

“There are companies that use it” can mean either “there are companies that use it because they are maintaining code written eight years ago which used it”, or “there are companies which are adopting it for new projects”. In the case of BEM, it’s 99% the former.
